The U.S. State Department has approved a potential $346 million arms sale to Nigeria, pending congressional approval. The deal includes munitions, bombs, and rockets, and is aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s capacity to combat ongoing security threats.
One of the primary objectives of the arms sale is to help Nigeria tackle the Boko Haram insurgency, which has caused widespread instability, loss of life, and displacement of communities in the northeastern region of the country.
