2025 Bye-Elections: Nigerians Set to Vote on August 16

On Saturday, August 16, 2025, Nigerians will once again head to the polling units for the Bye-Elections.

The elections will take place across 16 states of the federation, with the following positions available for voting:

  • 2 Senatorial seats
  • 5 Federal House of Representatives seats
  • 9 State Assembly seats

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that the Labour Party will not be fielding recognised candidates in these elections due to ongoing internal leadership crises.

In light of this situation, Peter Obi (PO) has urged members of the Obidient Movement and COPDEM families to come out en masse and vote for the coalition political party – African Democratic Congress (ADC) in their respective states.

Peter Obi emphasized that this election is part of the ongoing struggle to rebuild Nigeria and called on supporters to remain committed to the cause.

"The struggle for Nigeria has started. Thank you." – PO.
