LONDON, 11 Feb — Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior expressed his frustration following his side’s 2‑2 draw against Leeds United at Stamford Bridge, a result that saw the Blues surrender a two-goal lead in a Premier League clash.
Chelsea appeared in control after goals from João Pedro and Cole Palmer put the home side 2‑0 ahead. However, Rosenior warned his squad that complacency in the closing stages was unacceptable. “When we lead 2‑0, the game should be done at home,” he said, stressing the importance of maintaining focus for the full 90 minutes.
Rosenior highlighted key moments in the second half that shifted momentum in Leeds’ favour, particularly defensive lapses and a conceded penalty that allowed the visitors back into the contest. He described the sequence that led to Leeds’ equaliser as a clear example of the decisions the team must improve upon.
The Chelsea boss also expressed his irritation at officiating, particularly regarding a potential handball in the build-up to Leeds’ equaliser. “Someone explain the rules to me,” he said, acknowledging that such decisions affected his players’ mentality.
Despite the disappointment, Rosenior emphasised signs of progress under his management. He noted improvements in possession, energy, and attacking play, while also acknowledging that results are often determined by fine margins.
“I hope people can see the progression already,” he said.
The draw halted Chelsea’s recent run of wins, leaving the club still within striking distance of the Premier League’s top four. Rosenior was clear about the standards he expects moving forward, insisting that lapses like those against Leeds cannot happen again.
