President Tinubu Congratulates Soludo on Re-election as Anambra Governor
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo on his historic re-election as Governor of Anambra State, describing his victory as a clear affirmation of visionary leadership, dedication to good governance, and the overwhelming trust reposed in him by the people of Anambra State. The President noted that Soludo’s performance in his first term has left an indelible mark on the political and developmental landscape of the state, making his re-election both a reward and a renewed call to service.
In a statement released from the State House, President Tinubu extended heartfelt congratulations to the people of Anambra State, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and the security agencies for ensuring a peaceful, credible, and transparent electoral process. The President commended the maturity and political awareness displayed by the electorate, stating that the calm and orderliness that characterized the polls reflected the true democratic spirit and civic responsibility for which the people of Anambra are known.
The President described Professor Soludo’s re-election as a significant moment in Anambra’s democratic journey, noting that the victory, achieved by an overwhelming margin, has made Soludo only the third governor in the state’s political history to secure a second term. President Tinubu emphasized that such an accomplishment is not merely a reflection of political strategy but rather a resounding endorsement of leadership that prioritizes accountability, innovation, and human development. He stated that Soludo’s academic background and technocratic expertise have translated into practical governance, setting new standards in public administration.
Recalling his visit to Anambra State earlier in May 2025, President Tinubu expressed admiration for the quality and thoughtfulness of the projects executed by the Soludo administration. He praised the governor for transforming ideas into visible realities, particularly in infrastructure, education, and economic revitalization. The President said the projects he inaugurated during his visit showcased the creativity and foresight that the people of Anambra have come to associate with their governor, noting that such achievements underline the governor’s commitment to building a self-sustaining and economically vibrant state.
President Tinubu applauded Soludo’s ability to blend academic excellence with practical governance. He described the governor as a man of intellect and discipline who understands the critical intersection between knowledge and leadership. According to him, Soludo’s success has shown that the principles of academia—clarity of thought, rigorous analysis, and strategic planning—can serve as a powerful foundation for political leadership. He added that under Soludo’s stewardship, Anambra has continued to live up to its motto as the “Light of the Nation,” shining as a beacon of progress and stability in Nigeria’s southeastern region.
The President urged Governor Soludo to be magnanimous in victory, to extend a hand of fellowship to his opponents, and to seek unity among all political actors in the state. He stated that the challenges of governance require collective effort and that inclusiveness remains key to deepening democracy and sustaining peace. President Tinubu encouraged the governor to consolidate his developmental strides and continue implementing people-oriented policies that address the needs of the poor, empower the youth, and create an enabling environment for entrepreneurship and innovation.
In reaffirming the Federal Government’s readiness to work closely with the Anambra State Government, President Tinubu assured Governor Soludo of his unwavering support and partnership in advancing the socio-economic well-being of the state. He emphasized that the Federal Government recognizes the strategic importance of Anambra as a hub for commerce, education, and industrial growth, and will continue to collaborate with the state to attract investment, strengthen security, and promote sustainable development. The President expressed optimism that such cooperation will further unite Nigerians across political and regional lines, reflecting the true essence of federalism and national integration.
President Tinubu also used the opportunity to commend the Independent National Electoral Commission for the professional conduct of its officials during the election. He praised the new INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, and his team for organizing what many observers have described as one of the most credible and transparent elections in recent years. He noted that the successful conduct of the poll underscores the Commission’s growing capacity and commitment to upholding the integrity of Nigeria’s democratic process. The President urged INEC to continue improving on these standards to further strengthen public confidence in the nation’s electoral system.
Describing the outcome of the election as a victory for democracy and for all progressive Nigerians, President Tinubu highlighted that the success of the opposition party, the All Grand Progressives Alliance (APGA), once again demonstrates the vibrancy and fairness of Nigeria’s political system. According to him, the peaceful transition and acceptance of diverse political outcomes show that democracy in Nigeria is maturing and that the will of the people remains supreme. He noted that good governance, diligence, and accountability will always triumph, regardless of political affiliations.
Concluding his message, President Tinubu reaffirmed his belief that the re-election of Governor Soludo will usher in a new era of transformation and progress for Anambra State. He expressed confidence that the governor’s renewed mandate will further consolidate the gains of his first term, enhance infrastructural development, and expand opportunities for every citizen of the state. The President once again congratulated Governor Soludo, the people of Anambra State, and all stakeholders who contributed to the success of the election, calling on them to remain united in their pursuit of a better, brighter future for the state and Nigeria as a whole.
